Castor seeds (Ricinus communis) are one of the world's most important industrial oilseeds — castor oil is the only commercial source of ricinoleic acid, an indispensable raw material for the plastics, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, lubricant, and paint industries. Global castor oil demand exceeds 750,000 MT annually, with India dominating supply but Pakistan emerging as the major alternative origin.
